About us

RobbertKoene

Robbert is well-known in South Africa for his décor, food and travel photography. A vociferous lover of food and drink, he hails from Uden, a small town in Holland, but has been an African for the past 25 years. He is an accomplished self-taught chef and, as it says on his blog, a mountain bike champion in his dreams. He wants a Nespresso machine in his Defender.

GerdaGenis

A South African, born and bred, she loves to dance and has been one of the country's foremost fashion photographers for the past 25 years. She will do yoga most days during our travels, cause she can! She wants an electric blanket in the roof top tent.

The Car

LANDROVER DEFENDER
This was a no brainer, it was never up for discussion. No other option.
Over and out!

The long road North

This is roughly the route we intend to follow. Depending on local circumstances at the time we'll follow the eastern route northbound.
It will take us via South Africa's west coast trough Namibia's Kaokoland, the Caprivi, Chobe National Park in Botswana, Mana Pools in Zimbabwe, lake Malawi, into Tanzania. From Dar es Salaam we'll hop over to Zanzibar, back to Dar and the Serengeti, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, the Ethiopian highlands, into Sudan and finally Egypt.

I AM AFRIKA

I AM AFRIKA

This is the diary about our travels through Africa.
We will take you through this wonderful, colourful continent and let you join in all it has to offer.
You will also learn about all the preparations for this trip.
We will explore the Desert Elephants in Namibia, the scent of Ethiopian coffee, the smiles of the Malawian people, the vastness of the Serengeti, the music of Sudan, the spices of Zanzibar, the fish market of Dar es Salaam, the lakes of Rwanda, the lions of Savuti, the Masai in Kenya and many more.

It's about Africa!
